What to expect
Your first visit - consultation and examination
Your first visit will take approximately 45 minutes but we do ask you to arrive a few minutes early to fill in a little paperwork. This will include a short medical history. Please bring a list of any medication you are taking. Your chiropractor will then take a full case history plus you will be asked for consent to give you an appropriate physical examination which will include checking reflexes, flexibility etc. At this point ladies will be asked to change into a gown over their underwear and men will be provided with shorts (we have a separate changing room with private cubicles). Men may bring their own shorts, if they prefer. If you would like a friend or relative to accompany you on any of your visits they are more than welcome.
Your chiropractor's first priority is to discover what's wrong. They will rule out any serious underlying conditions that may require hospital treatment or the attention of your GP. Treatment is not usually done on the first visit. This is to allow your chiropractor to evaluate your case fully and devise a treatment plan most appropriate for you. Don't worry, this won't take long and we'll arrange for you to come back as soon as possible (usually within a day or two).
Your second visit - report of findings
Your chiropractor will greet you in reception and take you through to the treatment room. You will then receive a full explanation of your condition - what we've found, what it means and what we can do about it. It will also include the recommended treatment frequency. You will be given the opportunity to ask any questions before we begin treatment. Written permission (consent) is required prior to beginning treatment.
